Two negatives:
I don't need a map. I have a GPS.
I don't need to look at the a map. I have a GPS.
(noun & verb)
You needn't look at the map; I know the way.
ONLY possible with a verb.
HAVE TO & MUST
Similar in the affirmative:
I really must go.It's getting late.
I really have to go.It's getting late.
Different in negative:
I don't have to work on Saturday. (but the boss won't stop me if I want to!)
You don't have to have a passport for Spain. (But you can take one if you like.)
John! You mustn't play with matches! (It is forbidden)
Muslim children must not wear chador in French schools. (It's against the rules)
