We use causatives and permissives when we talk about one person causing
another person to do something.

"Passive" Form
HAVE
WANT + something DONE (use past participle)
GET
WOULD LIKE

Peter HAS his letters TYPED (by the secretary).
They WANTED their pictures TAKEN while they were on vacation.
Bill always GETS his suits CLEANED once a month.
The director WOULD LIKE the coffee MADE by 9:00 in the morning.

Notice that it's not necessary to say WHO is doing the action.

"Active" Form
HAVE
LET + someone DO something (Use infinitive without "to".)
MAKE

Ex. Ed MADE his daughter GO to bed at 8:00 until she was 13 years old.
George LETS his employees TAKE a long lunch on Fridays.
I HAVE my secretary TYPE all my letters.
I did badly on the exam but the teacher wouldn't LET me TAKE it again.

Notice that you always say WHO is doing the action.
